Course Information

Working in confined spaces covers such a broad range of jobs where you enter places not initially intended for human occupancy or work. This course may lead to employment in the mining, construction and resource industries.

It is recommended, but not compulsory, that this course is repeated every two years to ensure that your skills and knowledge remains current.

This course will cover the following topics:

 What classifies as “Confined Space”?
 What does the Legislation say?
 Site specific confined space work analysis
 Risk assessment and hazard control
 How to select the correct equipment
 How to inspect equipment for condition and safety
 Explanation of the different fall arrest devices
 Testing for atmosphere
 Carry out task in accordance with issued permit

This course is suitable for anyone with the ability to understand, read and write English to a satisfactory level for working in Australia.

On successful completion of this course participants will be presented with a Statement of Attainment for the Nationally Recognised Unit of Competency RIIWHS202D Enter and work in confined spaces. 
