About The Dogging and Rigging Course
From the 1st June 2022 our Dogging, Basic & Intermediate Rigging courses as well as the Non Slewing Crane CN and Vehicle Loading Crane CV will change.
These changes are necessary to enable our trainers to provide the required training and assessment under the new Units of Competence and Worksafe Assessment documents, the adopting of the WHS is also a consideration. We have endeavored to keep the increase in time and costs to a minimum.
Course duration and costs will be as follows:
CPCCLDG3001 – Licence to perform dogging
This course is delivered over a 4-day duration
The total cost including WorkSafe fees is $1050
CPCCLDG3001 – Licence to perform dogging
Industry Experienced Person Only
This course is delivered over a 3-day duration
The total cost including WorkSafe fees is $1050
CPCCLRG3001 – Licence to perform rigging basic level
This course is delivered over a 4-day duration
The total cost including WorkSafe fees is $1050 **YOU MUST HOLD A DOGGING LICENCE TO UNDERTAKE THIS COURSE**
CPCCLRG3002 – Licence to perform rigging intermediate level
This course is delivered over a 3-day duration

Interested students/applicants will need to fill out WA Advanced Training Academy’s
Construction Training Fund (CTF) Application Form and “pay the gap” at the time of booking a
course with us. To apply, click CTF-Claim-Participant-Form download and complete the form. Once complete, forward to emma@waata.com.au for clarification of your eligibility and processing. Please allow up to 3 business days for processing.

These will be run as separate classes, however if you book both we offer a package price over an 8-day duration
Monday-Friday total cost including WorkSafe fees is $1950 CTF eligible? – you pay only $655
Saturday included total cost including WorkSafe fees is $2150 CTF eligible? – you pay only $850
Saturday & Sunday Included total cost including WorkSafe fees is $2350 CTF eligible? – you pay only $1050
CPCCLDG3001 – Licence to perform dogging and
TLILIC0018 – Licence to operate a non-slewing mobile crane (greater than 3 tonnes capacity)
These will be run as separate classes, however if you book both we offer a package price
The total cost including WorkSafe fees is $2200
CTF eligible? – you pay only $900
CPCCLDG3001 – Licence to perform dogging and
TLILIC0024 – Licence to operate a vehicle loading crane (capacity 10 metre tonnes and above)
These will be run as separate classes, however if you book both we offer a package price

Group Bookings (Perth and Busselton), On-Site Training & Assessment.
You will be taught the necessary skills to plan, prepare and complete Dogging and/or Rigging work as prescribed by the National Standard for Licensing Persons Performing High Risk Work. This will include;
✔ Comply with Commonwealth, state or territory OHS/WHS legislation, standards relevant to safe dogging and crane operations.
✔ Communicate and work safely with others in the work area.
✔ Apply Hazard prevention and control measures consistent with appropriate standards.
✔ Apply to move loads in conjunction with cranes including, the reading of tags, slinging, loading, directing and landing loads with a slewing mobile crane with a telescopic boom and a winch, in and out of sight of the crane/ operator, moving four loads of varying shapes, sizes and weights.
✔ Use fibre and/or synthetic rope as tag lines, and connecting to loads using clove hitch, rolling hitch, bowline and single sheetbend.
✔ Conduct pre and post operational checks of the lifting equipment.
✔ comply with OHS/WHS legislation.
✔ effectively communicate and work
✔ safely with others in the work area.
✔ effectively conduct risk assessment and management procedures.
effectively complete the following tasks:-
✔ inspection of all plant and equipment, and
✔ installation of a fall arrest system (Static line), and
✔ use of a safety harness / fall arrest system, and
✔ installation of crane loading platforms and
✔ installation of a safety net, and
✔ installation of a shutter and safety screen, and
✔ demonstrated ability to work safely at heights, and
✔ erection of structural steel, and
✔ erection of precast panel, and
✔ set up and operation of a winch for load movement, and
✔ installation of a materials hoist, or
✔ installation of a mast climber.
effectively demonstrate the following knots, bends and hitches:-
✔ Sheet bend,
✔ Becket hitch,
✔ Running bowline,
✔ Double bowline.
effectively demonstrate the following splices and whippings:-
✔ Eye splice,
✔ Back splice,
✔ Short splice,
✔ Sail makers whipping,
✔ Common whipping,
✔ West countryman’s
✔ comply with OHS/WHS legislation.
✔ effectively communicate and work safely with others in the work area.
✔ effectively conduct risk assessment and management procedures.
effectively complete the following tasks:
✔ adding and removing a tower crane section, or
✔ adding and removing a crane lattice boom section, or
✔ erecting a non guyed tower (e.g. light tower, and
✔ perform a multiple crane lift, or
✔ a multiple winch lift, or
✔ a combination of a crane and winch lift, and
✔ lifting and installing a series of tilt-up panels, or
✔ lifting and installing a series of scenery panels (i.e. entertainment industry), and
✔ demolish/remove a series of tilt-up panel structures, or
✔ demolish/remove a series of scenery panel structures, and
✔ demolishing a concrete encased structural steel column and beam.
NB : All specifications for these performance tasks are detailed in the endorsed assessment instrument.
✔ effectively conduct pre and post operational checks of intermediate rigging equipment.
This course is suitable for anyone over the age of 18 and with the ability to understand, read and write English to a satisfactory level for working in Australia.
